How to check PF passbook balance by sending SMS

A Provident Fund (PF) is a retirement savings scheme that is mandatory in some countries and offered by employers to their employees. It is a fund where both the employer and employee contribute a percentage of the employee’s salary each month towards the employee’s retirement savings. The contributions made to the provident fund by both the employer and employee earn interest over time, and the accumulated balance can be withdrawn by the employee upon retirement or leaving their job. In some cases, employees can also withdraw from the fund for certain specified reasons such as purchasing a house, medical emergencies, or education expenses.

The purpose of a provident fund is to provide employees with a financial safety net for their retirement years and to encourage employees to save for their future. The fund is typically managed by a government agency or a private financial institution on behalf of the employees and employers. EPF is a retirement savings scheme that is mandatory for most employees in India. Similar to other provident funds, both the employer and employee contribute a percentage of the employee’s salary each month towards the employee’s retirement savings. The contributions earn interest over time, and the accumulated balance can be withdrawn by the employee upon retirement or leaving their job.

EPF is managed by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), which is a statutory body under the Ministry of Labour and Employment of the Government of India. The EPFO manages the EPF and other schemes such as the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS) and the Employees’ Deposit-Linked Insurance Scheme (EDLI) for the benefit of employees.
