The Government of Kerala provides many services to people in various sections of the society through different government departments. The vast majority of the services covered under the Right to Services Act (RTS) have been made online by various departments In this pandemic situation, people need to have access to all government services through a unified portal from the comfort of their own homes without having to go to government offices. Currently, citizens can access online services of various departments only through the website of each department which causes practical difficulty. In this context, the Government of Kerala has designed a centralized Kerala Service Portal incorporating the online services of all departments.
The declared policy of the Government of Kerala, ’Internet is my right’ is implemented through the Kerala Service Portal. This disabled-friendly Portal aggregates 500 plus services from 50 plus departments in the initial phase. Parallelly, A mobile application has also been made ready for mobile-friendly services.In addition to Universal search, Portal segregates services based on Target Users (Public, Students, Farmers, Women and Children, Youth and Skills Development, Social Security and Pensioners, Utilities and Others). Forthcoming releases of Portal shall include Single Sign-On for all online services.
This is a single platform to provide all online services by the state government. First version of mobile application will have 443 services. In the upcoming updates, a single sign on feature will be introduced and the citizen need to login in a single time to access all these services. In the application now Services are listed as category wise and also there is a provision for universal search with key words. This is the Official State Service Portal of Kerala. The portal is owned by Kerala State Information Technology Mission and the content is managed by C-DIT Kerala. This portal for providing easy and convenient services to the citizens through remote access.
In the first phase, more than 500 services of various departments will be available through the e-service. The portal categorizes the services into two categories on the basis of department and customer segment. The services are categorized into 9 categories based on customer segments: farmers, students, women, children, youth, skills development, social security pension, public utility services and other services so that people can quickly search and find services. In addition, the services of various departments are available in alphabetical order. In addition, the mobile app which includes 450 services, is ready. The app will be available on Android and iOS platforms. In the context of Covid, this integrated system will help to manage congestion in government offices and deliver services to the people more easily and efficiently.
The Government of Kerala’s web portal has been upgraded. A service dashboard has also been developed to provide statistics on online services implemented by various departments.This will provide information on the service delivery of each department on the portal. As part of the Kerala State Portal, a document repository portal has been developed which provides circulars, orders, notifications, notifications and tenders issued by various departments of the Government on a single platform.
