Critics argue that the collection of biometric data is intrusive and that the government has not done enough to protect the data from misuse. However, the Indian government has taken steps to address these concerns. In 2017, the Supreme Court of India ruled that privacy is a fundamental right under the Indian Constitution and that the government must take steps to protect citizens’ privacy . The government has also introduced measures such as limiting access to Aadhaar data and requiring companies to obtain consent before collecting biometric data.
